At Spectrum Fusion we are immensely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish when aiming our talents towards the silver screen. We’ve sought to add our unique visions and talents to help create stories that are funny, dramatic, heartwarming, and most of all, memorable. By giving our autistic employees a chance to shine, we’ve been able to not only add unique flair to several film projects by now, but also given our beloved team members a taste of real experience, not just on film sets, but in the writing rooms of pre production and the editing bays of post production. Our strengths in writing, directing, acting, filming, and editing have helped bring to life projects like Ripple Cut and Dear Cancer, highlighting both the dedication of our media team’s members, but also our continued certainty and belief that autistic adults can belong anywhere and everywhere.
A story of resilience, teamwork, and the power of inclusion
Ripple Cut
Ripple Cut is a 2024 dramedy short film written and directed by Spectrum Fusion affiliate Emily Giuffre and starring Spectrum Fusion’s own William Purdy. The film was shot over the course of three days, across multiple locations, such as a charming restaurant, as well as the apartment of Spectrum Fusion member, Summer Bragg. The film was helmed by both Spectrum Fusion Studios, as well as Emily Giuffree Films, who graciously collaborated with us to bring this story to the world.
The movie’s story follows Derek, an autistic video editor who is passed over for a job due to his inability to socialize and make small talk despite his talents; and Laurie, an ambitious socialite who bites off more than she can chew when she realizes the demands of her new job outstrip her ability to fast-talk. Deciding she cannot succeed without him, Laurie seeks out Derek for help and an unlikely friendship is born as they learn the strength of collaboration.
Since its premiere, Ripple Cut has been celebrated at festivals across Texas, earning honors at the ATX Short Film Showcase and recognition at the Texas Indie Filmmaker Awards.

Finding strength through stories of the past
Dear Cancer
Dear Cancer (2024) was Spectrum Fusion Studios’ first foray into collaborative movie making. The film was shot at the behest of and in collaboration with J&J Ranch Productions, owned and operated by Johnny & Jackie Hovorka, and adapted from the book Dear Cancer by Rita Pamplin. The movie was shot over the course of three days in a sleepy town in East Texas called Jasper.
The story follows a young woman named Maribelle who, after struggling to understand her own desires and sense of purpose for many years, rediscovers hope and belonging after fatefully unearthing a bundle of letters written by her great-grandmother during her battle with cancer.
This was the first film where our media team filmed and edited 100 percent of the film. We covered all aspects of the film including scouting for the best shots, to building and arranging the sets, to even constructing props and promotional materials.
Despite working under tight deadlines, both during and after production, our team completed the film ahead of schedule for its premiere at the International Christian Film Festival in Orlando. Since then, the film has been shown at such illustrious venues as the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood! We are so thrilled to have been able to lend our talent to such a monumental milestone in bringing the possibilities of autistic talent to such national attention!
